ABSTRACT
Although the study of politics is an ancient pursuit, it is only in the last few decades that the discipline of political science became truly established, not perhaps so much because the fundamental problems which had intrigued the authors of the past have been superseded or even radically changed, but because new political processes, new techniques of government and, above all, a greater variety of studies have broadened markedly the fields of inquiry.
