ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book outlines recent developments on Polish political scene placed Poland in the spotlight, thus confirming the thesis of ‘unfinished transition’ and ‘reform backsliding’. It explains factors and mechanisms that led to the specific follow up of events in Poland and their outcomes over the timespan of 30 years, i.e. 1989–2019. The book addresses a variety of issues pertinent to Poland’s past 30 years of growth and development. It offers an interdisciplinary take on developments in Poland and a complex narrative on Poland’s segue to market economy. The book explores the positive influence of EU policies, including especially the cohesion policy and structural funds, on Poland’s growth and development. It also addresses several interconnected issues, such as determinants of successful transition and transformation and their sustainability.
