ABSTRACT

The purpose of project reviews is to examine the current state of play where the project is in terms of progress and whether or not it is on target regarding the budget, schedule and scope. The nature of project reviews and audits can be confusing because the terms are often used interchangeably. However, audits tend to be process driven while reviews are more likely to be performance focused. Reviews are important throughout the project lifecycle and the most common types of reviews are gate reviews, peer reviews and post-project reviews. All parties should be told why a project audit is being conducted. Some might be specific to a particular type of project but common types include standard project audits, which are typically conducted as part of the continuous monitoring and control project activities.
