ABSTRACT

Hudson-Weems’ Africana Womanism sent unaccustomed shock waves through the domain of popular thinking about feminism and established her as a careful, independent thinker, unafraid to unsettle settled opinion. Africana-Melanated Womanism strongly represents an historical legacy, firmly rooted in Black life. Africana-Melanated Womanism, then, prohibits us from having to choose among options that unfortunately do not meet the demands, concerns and priorities of people’s people worldwide, which is the continuous pursuit of people’s God-given birthright as a people–freedom, security and happiness. An intriguing journey into the Africana world of men, women and children, who together continue the rich legacy of God’s gift of life for all, is herein upon people, offering thought, commitment and political action for total human survival. Africana Womanism, and by extension Africana-Melanated Womanism, is a wonderful global concept that brings all together–men, women, children; diversity in ethnic origins; all class levels, etc.
