ABSTRACT

Robyn Oxley in Chapter 11 reflects upon Larissa Behrendt’s leading work, Achieving Social Justice: Indigenous Rights and Australia’s Future and examines how the rhetoric around government and Indigenous affairs uncovers the difficulties in achieving social justice. The chapter concludes by arguing that Larissa Behrendt has opened the door for Aboriginal scholars to walk through behind her. The response from Aboriginal scholars in relation to the apology has opened up an area within university institutions in raising Aboriginal voices.
