ABSTRACT
The chapter addresses elements of autoethnography as a valuable, embodied disposition of life writing in research practice. I suggest that autoethnography as a method in scholarly writing charts ideas in the process of discovery, accommodating the difficulties of thinking and effecting slantwise connection rather than asserting mastery. While there is no inventory of methods associated with the situational shape-shifter that is autoethnography, the chapter offers scholars interested in exploring the possibilities of an autoethnographic inflection in their articles some pointers for how to perform a creative-conceptual process of inquiry.
