ABSTRACT

The chapter discusses how creative methods as part of qualitative interviews can assist researchers in bringing forward other aspects of life stories than those favoured by the traditional, biographical interview. Focusing on life charts, mapping methods, and music, the chapter outlines the general use of each method and demonstrates how these methods can be adapted to research projects with a biographical dimension. Thus, using creative methods in research interviews can be one way for life writing scholars and those writing auto/biography to discover alternative, or otherwise untold, life narratives.
