ABSTRACT

This book is about trying to improve the use of good evidence to enhance the experience of education for all stakeholders. It is based on the work of an international research centre – the Durham University Evidence Centre for Education – but the authors are drawn more widely from four continents, almost every phase of education, and from other areas of public policy. The authors include researchers, teachers, leaders and others. The issue is an important one, and the chapters in this book examine different ways of approaching how to improve evidence uptake. This chapter sets the scene by describing why the book is needed, and ends by outlining the structure of the book.
