ABSTRACT

The chapter outlines the research design and the main findings of a longitudinal study conducted in two cities in Brazil, and describes the strategies used by the researchers to enhance the use of the information collected at the national and local level. The research encompassed data collected during three years (2017–2019) in public and private schools in Brazil during the first two years in compulsory education. The strategies to disseminate the research findings included lobbying with the Ministry of Education at the national level and, at the local level, individual school/classroom reports, workshops with teachers and meetings with staff and secretary of education to discuss the main outcomes of the research and its potentialities to guide policies and curriculum.
