ABSTRACT
This chapter looks at the complex interaction between Byzantium and the rest of the Christian world. Rapp discusses how the manuscripts, and especially the palimpsests, that are kept at Saint Catherine’s monastery in the Sinai indicate a multilingual network of Christian polities from southern Italy, through Byzantium, to Georgia.
