ABSTRACT

The three elements of this chapter will include an introduction to the ethics of healthcare in prison, ethics of healthcare for people with dementia and finally a discussion on the possible applications of ethics of healthcare for people with dementia in prison settings. First, the ethics of healthcare in prison will explore the application and implementation of medical ethics in the prison setting. Second, the ethics of healthcare for people with dementia living in the community will be explored, including dementia-specific ethical challenges of healthcare provision. Finally, the chapter will discuss how both these approaches can be developed to provide ethical healthcare for prisoners with dementia through the development of a proposed ethical framework.
