ABSTRACT
This chapter will bring together the discussions from each chapter and provide an overview of the ethos of this book regarding dementia in prison and the need for robust research to explore the impact of dementia in a prison setting and on how to deliver gold-standard healthcare for these prisoners. This will include recommendations for future practice, guidelines, policies, protocols and research to support and improve healthcare provision for prisoners, especially those with cognitive impairment and dementia, under the considerations of health provision for older prisoners and those with dementia; initiatives to support prisoners with dementia; and robust ethical research on dementia in prison.
