ABSTRACT

Conducting a meaningful introduction of sustainability issues and policies can require a substantial investment of classroom time and attention. This chapter presents an approach to facilitating understanding and discussion of sustainability concepts and principles in higher education, drawing upon science-fiction cinema portrayals of possible futures. Paratexts such as film trailers and clips, especially presented in conjunction with integral theory and schemas of specific production/consumption flows, can provide time-efficient tools to introduce and hopefully inspire students to discuss and engage further in this important knowledge and policy domain.
