ABSTRACT
The story narrates the life span of a lead (Pb) molecule with details on how it can cause damage to both the environment and human health. Toxicity of chemicals seminar intends to extract the theoretical facts behind the story. In this seminar, one should learn about the toxicity of chemicals and their effects on humankind and the environment. “Green Chemistry” is the umbrella tool that guides applications of chemistry in industry, education and research towards being an environmentally friendly, sustainable practice. It includes 12 principles to systemise products and processes to be safe from substances that are hazardous to human health and the environment. These 12 principles are Prevent waste, Atom economy, Less hazardous synthesis, Design safer chemicals and products, Use safer solvents and reaction conditions, Increase energy efficiency, Use of renewable feedstocks, Reduce derivatives, Catalysis, Design for degradation, Real-time analysis for pollution prevention and Minimise the potential for accidents.
