ABSTRACT

This chapter borrows from the concept of psychogeography to offer teaching and learning ideas for fashion, art and design students. It provides an example of how storytelling can be used as a seed to encourage investigation into sustainability goals. The story is based on a walk around London and provides a model for students to go on their own walk, explore their responses and develop their ability to observe through playful discovery. The chapter aims to highlight students’ awareness of sustainability goals from simply observing their surroundings creatively imaginatively.

The teaching units offer both educators and students practical tasks, including journaling, mapmaking and exploring diversity through collaborative projects. During these tasks, students reflect on sustainability through their creative practice. Additional teaching materials and ideas also included to offer ideas for further practice and study.
