ABSTRACT

The United Nations developed 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to enhance and develop all countries and explicitly focus on well-being. This chapter aids those in higher education who are students of pedagogy to develop skills to help meet Goals 3 and 4: Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being “Ensuring healthy lives and promoting the well-being for all at all ages is essential to sustainable development”. Goal 4: Quality Education “Obtaining a quality education is the foundation to improving people’s lives and sustainable development.” The chapter highlights is the Clough and Strycharczyk model of mental toughness and how it can be used to support educational attainment and well-being and have a sustainable impact on individual’s lives. More specifically, these four aspects which appear commonly in literature on sustainable changes to support well-being and resilience: Control, Commitment , Challenge and Confidence.
