ABSTRACT

Researchers have repeatedly demonstrated the effectiveness of the Timely Transitions Game to decrease the amount of time students spend transitioning between classrooms and the likelihood that inappropriate hallway behavior may occur, and to increase the amount of time students are academically engaged. Teachers monitor the amount of time spent by the group during targeted transitions, and a group contingency is used to reward students for transitioning efficiently within a specific allotted time period. This chapter provides an example of the use of the Timely Transitions Game with a randomized interdependent group contingency to improve transition behavior in a kindergarten classroom.
