ABSTRACT

This chapter explores some of the dialogues occurring within Latinx communities, including discussions related to the history and futurity of Latinx demographics and identities, as well as the way research is conducted alongside Latinx folks. It offers alternative theories, epistemologies, and methodologies to engage with Latinx communities in authentic ways. Like any other racial group, Latinx communities continue to grow and reimagine themselves and even as of the writing of this introduction, there are still many other dialogues that need to be centered in texts. Complementing the Latinx demographic shifts, MacDonald and Carrillo also explore xenophobic and anti-immigrant sentiment present particularly during 45’s presidency, which has since continued to shape the national political dialogue on immigrants and undocumented peoples.
