Twenty-first century American populist movements

By looking at the experience of the Tea Party, the Occupy Movement, and the anti-Trump resistance, the chapter examines the challenges social movements face when they try to institutionalize participatory forms of politics. To date, there is no obvious model for maximizing influence while minimizing the risk of corruption, but every existing model offers severe vulnerabilities.
