ABSTRACT
This chapter introduces a forum on colonial history and cultural history. Isabelle Surun analyzes the recent lines of colonial history in France (a very heterogeneous and dynamic field, undergoing a deep renewal in relation to postcolonial studies, cultural studies, and gender studies) and debates the possible points of connection, affinities, or inherent links between colonial history and cultural history.
