ABSTRACT

In the fast-paced game of ice hockey, different offensive and defensive scenarios occur all the time. Ice hockey coach Darren Lowe explains how he provides an environment where players and teams can improve each and every day. He believes that this can be achieved in a setting where players are free to make decisions and try new things. The goal of Darren’s practices is to develop players in the areas of technical and tactical abilities, skill development, and conditioning. In this chapter he focuses on nine options and choices that his players can make in the breakout from defence.
