ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the tactical decision-making process that all cricketers are called upon to make at different times and places as they develop as cricketers. Two case studies will be examined in detail. The first surrounds the lack of technique and decision-making that result in bowling a no ball, its consequences and what strategies the bowler and coach could use to eradicate this error. The second example relates to a team and individual batting strategy that should occur when a batter is dismissed so as to avoid losing two wickets close together. Practice strategies that mirror in-game scenarios will be discussed that can help both the bowler and batter learn how to make better in-game tactical decisions.
