Patient safety and human rights

This chapter reflects the journey to a patient-safe future taken by Patient Safety Learning, a charity and independent voice for patient safety. The chapter, thus, takes a very specific and arguably subjective perspective when setting out concerns about the degree to which a right to safe healthcare is potentially compromised by avoidable harm. The voice in this chapter is unquestionably that of an advocate for patient safety and rights. As Chief Executive of Patient Safety Learning, the author approaches this area from the vantage of a safety systems and patient advocacy approach.
