ABSTRACT
This chapter draws on the recent debate about a transnational approach to the history of education. It suggests systematic criteria for a comprehensive research study into this field and provides examples of one such criterion. It concludes with a general reflection of the transnational history of education during the inaugural period of modern internationalization processes which spanned the mid-nineteenth to the mid-twentieth century.
