ABSTRACT
Protests led by young adults and students in Mexico have garnered significant attention in recent years and have added more spotlight on the use of social media as a tool to generate not only awareness but support as well. This chapter looks at the beginnings of these movements, which were influenced over time by political corruption and the war on drugs, and in particular, discusses the formation and impact of the student-led group, #YoSoy132.
