ABSTRACT
This chapter recasts the meaning of “confession” from a sacramental exposé of queer/trans iniquity to the faith-inflected revelations of queer/trans people. Drawing on selected narratives of four Malaysian Christian men who self-identify as gay, and thus culpable of being songsang or (sinfully) aberrant in a country that continues to criminalize sexual and gender diversities, Goh constructs theologies from the ground up that recognize God as Profound Knower, Unconditional Lover, Instructor, Generous Provider and Plenitude of At-Home-Ness. The chapter ends with a recommendation that both churches and queer/trans people engage in deep storytelling and deep listening as mutual learning processes.
