ABSTRACT

This chapter queers the doctrine of the Trinity by analyzing the feasibility that equal marriage may have been already co-opted by a heteronormative perspective. An emerging homonormativity that leaves aside other performances of sexuality – such as bisexuality, polyamory, and polygamy – may support that perspective. Can the Trinity be the divine menage-à-trois that enlightens and encourages other non-normative relationalities? Interrogating the doctrine of the Trinity from this standpoint, Córdova Quero aims to destabilize and problematize the theological models of classical systematic theology. The chapter also lays the groundwork for a suitable appropriation and liberation of this doctrine for queer individuals and communities.
