ABSTRACT
This chapter investigates how translingualism manifests in poetry. The first two sections are introductory, and they explore, respectively, the specific status of poetry as a genre within the translingual discourse and the distinctive relationship that binds poets and their languages. The ensuing three sections are dedicated to the analysis of exemplary texts and to let emerge relationality, subversion, and transformation as fundamental qualities of translingual poetry. For reasons of scope, the analysis is limited to three main contexts: the italophone, the francophone, and the anglophone. The trajectories that the chapters foreground, however, are deeply rooted in the translingual poetry practice, and as such, may provide an important point of departure for future desirable analyses in other contexts.
