ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses how the concept human rights can assist in developing students’ reflective practice in the context of Clinical Legal Education (‘CLE’). The work carried out in the Legal Clinic of the University of Alcalá, which is focused on the provision of legal assistance to clients with HIV, will be used as an example to illustrate the application of human rights to CLE. The central value of incorporating human rights into CLE is that they allow students to analyse their own conduct and the impact of the law on the dignity and integrity of their clients.
