ABSTRACT
Every National Health Service (NHS) Trust has non-medical prescribing leads (NMP leads). Their role is invaluable in the governance, monitoring, auditing and support of non-medical prescribing staff within their Trust to maintain safety but also ensure continued professional development of these staff. Alongside this effective multidisciplinary team working is paramount to aid the safe prescribing and monitoring of medications for patients. This chapter outlines some of the responsibilities of the NMP lead role from a community Trust perspective, most of which will be similar to the role within any NHS Trust across the UK. It also covers the concept of multidisciplinary teams working in the arena of non-medical prescribing.
