ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the various uses of graphics and visuals during the planning process, illustrating with examples the possibilities and judicious choices that must be made for effective communication in different planning situations. The most important types, tools and techniques of graphics and visuals—both traditional and digital—that are available to the planner are included. A discussion on integrating graphics into presentations follows, and concludes with a reference to applications, computer programs and readings—all designed to help planners hone their professional graphic and visualization skills.
