ABSTRACT

To many Americans, they are often portrayed as the radicals, the belligerents, the troublemakers, and at best the rejectionist Arabs whose attitude is a major obstacle to peace in the region. This chapter shows that Syria honestly and sincerely supports ail peace lovers in the region and the world at large in their endeavors to achieve peace, tranquility, and prosperity for all people, especially those of the troubled region of the Middle East. Syria's answer has always been and is "a just, durable, and comprehensive peace." Then, it is told to join the trail of the peace process. When it questions the mechanism of this so-called peace process, it gets the apparently simple answer: negotiation. Israel is relying solely on the United States for unlimited political and economic aid, despite the so-called deep disassociation between the strategy of the United States and that of Israel.
