ABSTRACT

The economic crisis has caused even the most well-established positions to be questioned—the role of the state, the relationship between private industry and public research and development entities, the very organization of public entities. The emergence of new needs, new awareness and new expectations has generated a growing public commitment to research in such sectors as health, defense, education, environmental protection and energy. The policy for the stimulation of innovation implemented by the different governments is composed of specific and non-specific instruments and of other types of measures such as, for example, government programs and public orders. The programme is underway and has given industry a great many indications on improving production. The objective of the institutionalized venture capital company is to set up venture capital operations in Italy, contributing to the support of new industrial initiatives which are pledged to developing highly innovative products and/or technologies.
