ABSTRACT

The future course of the acid rain debate remains clouded by the redundant nature of the policy stalemate within the legislative, administrative, and scientific arenas. Earlier parts of this volume have explored the uniqueness of the acid rain debate in comparison with previous environmental disputes, the varying policy alternatives currently being generated by researchers, policy analysts, and politicians concerned with overcoming or finessing the policy immobilism on the acid rain front, and the practices and strategies of other political actors for addressing the effects of acid deposition.
