ABSTRACT

Access to information is important to the business and professional community, both individuals and corporate bodies. A diagram of the information cycle would start with the creator of information, the person who develops the ideas, the concepts, the creative thinking. Information-delivery systems are changing rapidly, promising new and innovative transmission systems for the individual wherever located. Nonbibliographic data bases are growing in number and in importance to information seekers. Computerized data bases are revolutionizing information retrieval for two reasons. First, the computer can run through an enormous number of citations and select the pertinent ones in a matter of seconds, thus saving the searcher time; second, the computer in its search can look for a number of different elements or terms at the same time. The route from the user to the specific data base is a simple one. The user starts with his library, information agency, or information broker.
