ABSTRACT

Studies, research, training and other preparatory steps undertaken by developing countries can be greatly strengthened through the services of international organizations. In addition to FAO, technical assistance to specific economic co-operation among developing countries (ECDC) investment projects or other ECDC activities can be obtained from other international organizations - the World Bank, IFAD, and regional development banks. The need for increased support to ECDC activities by international organizations appears to be desirable in a wide range of technical and research projects. Every developing country disposes today of agricultural institutes which are in a position to participate in research work. Developing countries possess today the necessary educational facilities and extension services which can provide technical and managerial training, including additional training in later stages of a project. Co-operation in the field of commodities is carried out primarily through associations of producers and exporters of single commodities.
