ABSTRACT
An analysis is presented of the health impacts of a full-scale nuclear war. Within the first weeks following the bomb explosions there could be on the order of tens of millions of fatalities. For the survivors, contained widespread fallout and disruption to normal health support systems would result in enormously increased illness and mortality including cancer and genetic disorders from exposure to ionizing radiation.
