ABSTRACT
Official Name of State: Republic of Yemen. On May 22, 1990, YAR and PDRY proclaimed their formal unification as one state. “Unity day” was Nov. 30, 1990. Unification is taking place over a two-and-a-half year transition period. Merger of the armed forces is in process.
