ABSTRACT
The year 1993–1994 will no doubt be remembered as the year of the revolutionary breakthrough in Israeli-Palestinian relations. Following a frustrating ten rounds of bilateral talks in Washington, Israel and the Palestinians formally agreed to depart from their traditional ideological positions, thereby producing the Oslo Declaration of Principles (DOP; see Appendix 1 to this chapter).
