ABSTRACT

Military Strategy provided the first thorough Soviet analysis of a strategy for nuclear war; it is the most comprehensive work on the subject published thus far in the open press. Military Strategy was reviewed in various military journals and received wide attention both in the Soviet Union and abroad. The military coalition of the capitalist countries will be on one side while the coalition of the socialist countries will be on the other side. Victory in war is determined not only by military and technical superiority, which is assured, on the whole, by the advantages of the socio-economic and political systems, but also by the ability to organize the defeat of the enemy and effectively to use the available means of combat. Success in a future war will also depend on the extent to which the level of development of military strategy corresponds to the requirements of a modern war.
