ABSTRACT

The only way to continue to grow and improve teaching in the sport and exercise psychology (SEP) field is to share effective pedagogical practices and the extraordinary ideas with one another. The book provides information on how to create and implement a learning-centered approach in SEP classrooms designed to address the needs of today’s millennial students. It introduces educators to key principles of assessment, considerations when selecting assessments and developing grading criteria, and guidelines for writing, giving, and utilizing assessments. The book addresses two delivery methods that colleges and universities have been pushing educators to incorporate into the classroom, given demands from employers of recent graduates and graduate programs. It highlights the challenge educators often face in online classes of creating a community and collaborative environment and offers practical suggestions to implement in online courses. The book outlines. strategies for mentoring and guiding graduate students who are entering the classroom as educators for the first time.
