ABSTRACT
In this chapter a number of approaches to reducing illicit firearms will be explored with case studies used to highlight the challenges of effective evaluation. This chapter will cover key concepts such as those of programme evaluation; the selection of programmes to address a problem or social condition; how to design and implement a programme; how to monitor and evaluate a programme; and how to develop a critical understanding of the limitations and challenges to programme evaluation.
