ABSTRACT

Chapter 1 provides an extensive introduction to the research and reflections from the book’s key scholars and activists from Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. This chapter begins to provide insights into feminist criminological theory, key debates and future possibilities. Each chapter is overviewed, followed by a summary of the gendered construction of women as victims and offenders, as well as the social, health and economic disadvantages, together with the systemic racism, that women face.
