ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book presents the upheavals observed through the viewpoint of the neo-institutional theory. It suggests that using the theoretical economic viewpoint to analyses the reactions of the Group of 20 group during the economic and financial crisis experienced in 2007 by the United States. The book explains that in Europe the mutations of associations – and particularly consumer associations – are characterised by an appropriation of lobbying techniques to become major stakeholders, which are likely to affect the definition and achievement of the goals of companies and public authorities. It discusses the need to analyses the internationalisation process of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in transition countries. The book focuses on the export decision in Algerian SMEs and explores the pooling of resources between partners in the context of international joint ventures. It describes the innovation strategies of companies in transition economies.
