ABSTRACT

The teachers’ embodiment of mindfulness is a key quality which imbues the entire MBP teaching process. It was challenging to describe embodiment when the people were developing the MBI:TAC. Indeed, it is not really a skill or a competence that can be deliberately practiced like many other skills in the people life. There are two integrated arms to the process of embodiment. One is our capacity to align ourselves to the practice of mindfulness, and the other is to be the people natural selves. The gateway to embodied practice is to connect to the immediacy of experience as the people teach, with an emphasis on visceral sensory experience, as well as being somatically attuned to thoughts, emotions, and to what is going on in the room. The TLC is a useful tool to support reflective development in cultivating the people own sense of embodiment.
