ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the key factors that influence the creation of a Mindfulness-Based Programme (MBP) service, and the second draws out a series of recommendations. The analysis of these stories enabled us to draw out common themes. The chapter unpacks interdependent themes the authors identified within the data that help us understand why some sites were further along in their journey, that influence the process of the MBP implementation journey. For an implementation journey to start and progress, a necessary condition is that there is an implementer. An aspect of organisational culture that influences MBP implementation is the philosophical values base to the overall service. An important element of the MBP implementation journey, particularly in relation to sustainability, was the nature of the MBP teacher-training pathway and supervision arrangements. In some sites, lack of resources meant that training and supervision provision were compromised and sometimes fell below good practice guidance.
