ABSTRACT

The mission of Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) of the Pan-Atlantic University is “To build a network of entrepreneurial leaders through commitment to continuous learning, process improvement and business integrity.” In building this network of entrepreneurial leaders, EDC appreciates the role women must play but equally understands that there are inherent constraints that limit women in reaching their full potentials, especially in developing countries. In more than a decade, EDC has innovatively addressed these challenges that inhibit the growth of women businesses in Nigeria. Goldman Sachs 10,000 women in Nigeria became a network of highly trained women, supporting and inspiring each other to succeed in business. The learning path starts with a five-month capacity building program, which was reinforced with webinars and business clinics for participants. They also took part in learning labs that exposed them to how others have either birthed their ideas or reinvented their business model.
