ABSTRACT

Though the eight nations of South Asia have their individual problems of crime and victimization, some of the tribulations are connected with history. Criminology as an academic discipline is offered in bachelor’s and master’s programmes at various colleges and universities of Pakistan. The Indian Journal of Criminology is a flagship journal of the Indian Society of Criminology that was established in 1973 and has published several notable studies. The Pakistan Journal of Criminology, the flagship journal of the Pakistan Society of Criminology, even though recently established, has published significant studies and contributed to the field of criminology in the South Asian region. In spite of the significant contributions of South Asian criminologists and others, South Asian criminology is still marginalized. The criminological problems of the South Asian region are unique and regional in nature, which will not be understood by other regions of Asia or the Asia-Pacific.
