ABSTRACT

The writing in this final chapter of the book will form a conclusion to the earlier chapters and reflect upon some of the possible directions that future healthcare research may take. As a consequence of this, the writing will be largely speculative. More specifically, three forms of qualitative research that have been used to investigate healthcare and issues surrounding this will be the focus of our writing. The three approaches are: online interviews, online focus groups and netnography, otherwise known as digital anthropology. These have been chosen as much of life in the twenty-first century has moved online and research into healthcare has taken a similar route. Details about the above three approaches, and how these are conducted, will be briefly presented in order to familiarise the reader with these. Examples will then be presented from the literature of how these have been used in a variety of health and well-being related studies.
