ABSTRACT

The aim of this chapter is to illustrate the use of exploratory multivariate methods for analyzing multitrait-multimethod (MTMM) data. To explore is, literally, to travel to a new place to learn about it: as the name suggests, the main idea behind exploratory methods is to search, discover, and learn from a dataset. This chapter is about presenting my journey in a field of application I am not so familiar with, equipped with tools that are very versatile and that I have been using for more than two decades. As this exploratory point of view may be new to the MTMM ‘community,’ this chapter will be written as a tutorial, mixing theory, practical issues, and results. Analyses are performed using the R software (R Core Team, 2019) and the FactoMineR package (Lê S., Josse J., & Husson F., 2008).
